We are very happy about our two new colleagues Alba and Aida.
Both come from Barcelona and completed their training as dental hygienists at the REUS Academy there.
Alba gets a taste of what it's like
Alba will only work for us in Schwabing until the end of August. Through the Erasmus exchange program Alba would like to get to know Munich and the work in a German dental practice. Alba speaks Spanish, Catalan and English.
You can read below how she perceives her work here and what she likes to do in her spare time.
Aida is already here for the second time
Aida will stay longer. As a dental assistant she will work full time in our practice in Schwabing. We don't have to show her much. Aida was already with us as an intern in 2018. Everyone still remembers how she left us with tears in her eyes and promised to come back.
Now she is back again.
Aida speaks Spanish, Catalan and English. In the evening hours she is learning German in an intensive course. Aida loves Munich and will hopefully stay with us for a long time. What she particularly likes here she revealed in an interview.
We are very happy because Alba and Aida are helpful and motivated employees who enrich our team enormously. Their Spanish joie de vivre and cheerfulness infect everyone.
"The punctuality of the patients surprises me" - Interview with Alba and Aida
It's nice to have you in our dental practice in Schwabing. What was the reason for you to come to Munich?
ALBA: There is a functioning labour market in Germany. I am also interested in getting to know other ways of working. Why did I choose Munich? Personal reasons were more decisive. I think it is a beautiful city because of its nature.
AIDA: I did an internship here in Munich a year ago. I have had this goal for a long time and then decided on Munich. I liked the city because of its nature, its way of life and its professionalism. When the dentist Alexandra Beau contacted me and offered me a permanent job, I didn't hesitate and accepted the offer.
What differences do you notice when you compare the work of a German dental practice with that of a Spanish one?
ALBA: The working methods are similar and different at the same time. The procedures are basically the same, but the way they are done is different. One of the things that surprised me was the punctuality of the patients.
AIDA: I was surprised by the variety of materials used here compared to Spain. I also appreciate the diversity of languages and cultures.
What do you miss here?
ALBA: Privately I miss my family and the spontaneity to decide things spontaneously. Professionally, I would like to speak better German in order to communicate more easily.
AIDA: I miss my family and being together with my friends. What also bothers me is that I am not able to have a fluent and more extensive conversation.
What do you do in your spare time? Tell something about yourself.
ALBA: In my spare time I like to be with my friends and family. I like walks, music and drawing very much. I love summer and everything related to it.
AIDA: Spending time with my friends and family. I love reading and listening to music, cooking and learning languages.
Which dental treatments do you like best?
ALBA: I especially like tooth preserving treatments like root canal treatments, fillings, periodontal treatments.
AIDA: I like hygiene, surgery and fillings best.
How do you see your career in the future?
ALBA: I would love to work as a nurse in the future.
AIDA: I still don't have a clear idea of what the future will bring me. What is certain is that it will be a job in the health sector. I like the health sector and I will continue to concentrate on it in my training.
